Scene Analysis of Twelfth Night Essay Example for Free
Scene Analysis of Twelfth Night Essay Feste, the Fool, disguises himself as Sir Topas, a priest, and visits Malvolio in his imprisonment, under direction of Maria and Sir Toby. Malvolio is relieved to hear the voice of the priest and believes the priest might release him from his prison. Malvolio makes the claim that he is not insane and is wrongly imprisoned in darkness. Feste tells Malvolio that he is in a well-lit room and that the darkness is simply ignorance. Sir Toby becomes afraid that if this jest goes on for any longer, Olivia, his niece might kick him out of her house. Sir Toby urges Feste to talk to Malvolio as himself. Feste, however, is having a bit of fun with his new alter ego. Feste begins talking to Malvolio as himself, but he begins using both personas in the conversation. Malvolio still urges Feste that he is sane and asks Feste to bring him a pen, some paper and a light. Feste offers to retrieve the requested items. 3. This scene deals directly with the ideas of identity and insanity found throughout the play. Feste dresses like a priest in order to assume the identity of Sir Topas. However, Malvolio is in darkness and is incapable of seeing Feste. The disguise is not needed, but the usage of the disguise points to identity being a direct result of personal appearance. Feste must dress as a priest in order to act like a priest. Previously, Malvolio dressed rather absurdly and was, by the same logic inherent in Festeââ¬â¢s costuming, insane. The scene also changes the audienceââ¬â¢s perception of Malvolio. Earlier in the play, Malvolioââ¬â¢s character is a boring burden of sobriety on the community. As such a character, his humiliation seems warranted. In this scene, however, he is helpless. Feste treats Malvolio like a toy and attempts to convince him that he is truly insane. . The sceneââ¬â¢s location in the play breaks up the action involving Sebastian in the first and third scenes of Act IV. This sceneââ¬â¢s tone is lighter and comical in what would be a more serious act. It also adds the perspective of a brief passage of time between the two Sebastian scenes, thus allowing Oliviaââ¬â¢s character to depart and collect the priest that is to marry her to Sebastian. 5. This scene directly affects the tone of the final act of the play. Malvolioââ¬â¢s resistance to Feste as the fool insists he is mad helps portray Malvolio as he sole person that is fully aware of his own identity. Malvolio knows that he is sane, whereas insanity holds onto other more frenetic characters. His stalwart sanity makes him incapable of letting down his guard and joining in the fun. At the playââ¬â¢s close, Malvolio finds out that Olivia did not write the love note, and his imprisonment was the result of a practical joke. If Malvolio were capable of buying into Festeââ¬â¢s claims that he was insane, he might have been more accepting of the joke. Instead, he claims he will have his rev enge and adds a sour tone to the ending of the play.

Role Of Media In Branding Fashion Apparel Industry Marketing Essay
Role Of Media In Branding Fashion Apparel Industry Marketing Essay In order to accomplish the objective, the spirit of media have to be fully understood in strategic positioning for high-end clothing industry and the influence of media planning on the companys marketing strategy, the extent of the appearance of media and how the companies are to retort to the information provided by the media. This study is expected to endow with the exposure of the roles of media, the brand management of luxury industry, the interface of media and branding for this particular field as a retrospective expression and to be considered as an esteem of this area Implications for Organizations The affray is getting so furious that the enterprise natural environment alterations all the time and it is crucial for latest tendency retailers to differentiate in the market location as well as the designing of trading advocating (Moore and Fairhurst, 2003). This task has its own restricts in proposing which should be worried on, but it still presents some insight into buyer demeanour when it arrives to fashion. Marketers should use a blend of diverse advances to advance or boost the possibilities for persons to obtain advocating information. For example, to attain the yearned conclusion of maximized branding, the significance of the intermediate that convey the advocating note can not ever be worried enough; it should be mindfully assessed and the contents should be creative, eye-catching to grab the consumers attention. Ideally, the note will consign to the buyer assembly and leverage their buying demeanour or habits. In order to positively influence recipients opinions towards advertising covering both current and potential consumers requires intricate research and design, because it concerns with the delicate functions of advertising communications of medium, source credibility, and advertising and fashion systems.à Literature Reviewà The future success will not belong to product or technology-oriented organizations, but to customer-focused organization, supported by market-information competencies, which links the customer to the firms value-delivery process. (Webster, 1988) The intension of this project is to observe the role of media in positioning strategy and brand management for premium apparel industry. The endeavor is to reconfirm the significance of media in branding communication and to disclose the feasible best solution to the decision-making of marketing strategy. To absolutely identify the personality of media in strategic positioning for high-end consumer goods and the impact on the companys marketing strategy, we should first clarify the nature of media, then of the leverage it possess. Fashion Fashion is not just about apparel and accessories. Rather, it is more of a mind-set in the direction of life and can be appeared as a cipher or dialect which reflects the phenomenon of the society. (Solomon and Rabolt, 2004). In detail, it wrappings all kinds of commerce parts automobiles, furnishings, architecture, telecommunications etc. All of this can be documented as that Fashion or vogue habitually comprises certain stage of heritage activities. It could be a chic bistro persons proceed to, the digital melodies contestant we convey with everyday or even the most talked-about TV programme. However, when mentioning to latest tendency in this task, we restrict the meanings to one of numerous modes persons articulate themselves by the apparel constituent being put on. Consumer Behaviour towards Fashion Discussions of buyer demeanour can be traced back as early as The idea of Leisure Class by Thorstein Veblen (1925 [1899]), which proposes the transformation of every day purposeful products into certain thing symbolic for the inherent affray of communal status. Status searching in such a important motivation for obtaining the right goods and services, the users wish the other ones will understand he or she has the proficiency to make it.(Thompson,1990) Further elaboration indicates the premier communal superiors are in seek of new tendencies and methods endlessly, in alignment to differentiate themselves from the tricking-down consequences on the less privileged groups. (Simmel,1971[1903]). While latest tendency merchandise really is the perfect piece class for expressing the personal and psychological facets of oneself (Lazer, 1981), it is the individuals yearn to sustain and enhance his own values. Then, brand was altered into the pointer ob emblem wearers mind-set, by which a in dividual broadcasts his persona, displays his standards, expresses his feeling, or suggests his attitude., (Evans,1989) Particularly, latest tendency brands are entails of expressing identification and subsequently, proceed as a assurance of consistency and a shortcut in decision-making. Premium Fashion Retailing Fashion is a multi-billion-dollar business. On the matching bases of delineating latest approach, premium apparel latest approach is delineated as designer wear, which embraces the designers own tag and their overpass lines. The reasoning behind it is that the borderline between high latest approach and mass latest approach is significantly vague (Solomon and Rabolt, 2004), and most of the bulk view the designers brand label label is high-end fashion. As designer label, logo, label and trademark are decorated on clothing, boots, bags, they are drawn on to present the individuals sole taste.(Lurie,1981) The heading of designer clothing, as upheld by Danziger(2004), collapses under the group of lifestyle luxuries. Highly brand label oriented administration that add worth and brings ahead symbolic worth past the operational can in addition gain a merchandise charge advantageà by compelling a charge premium family member to competitors, which is often the case in the couture latest app roach market. Competitive superiority in the latest approach retail subdivision is the point to which the governing body ideals brand labels and its practices are oriented towards building brand label capabilities. Fashion brand labels want to deduce their unique brand label labels and, as such unique capabilities in rank to realize bigger market differentiation. Manufacturers commonly use branding as a signifies of augmenting symbolic worth (consumption) to an item. Handsome charge will be compensated to the advertiser who has the head to bring ahead a rational photograph and the constancy to fasten with it over a long period. (Ogilvy, 1963) Mass Media and Advertising The issue of broadcasting and advertising is one of the most discussed subjects in view to consumerism in concurrent society. Some dispute that mass broadcasting inaccurately reportà the development of the enterprise, but the press is the greatest reflection of societys relative standing (Oliver, 1984) and advertising helps as an invention for clients, those who are keen to compensate since the knowledge it gives lessens explore time. From the purpose of scenery of economic procedure of knowledge, advertising is an influential source of client information.(Stigler,1961) Firms today deduced very fragile selling approaches to make perform with the use of knowledge to distribute promulgating budget. Exclusivity is the victorious charge for striving against bidders and it often growth recognition substantially. Many new means of promulgating have modified the conventional awareness of advertisements: advertising sites, sponsorship, signage, billboard, wares locations, credits etc. Fashion Marketing Fashion development has become midpoint to mass society as one of the course for separate someone verbalize themselves and bring ahead identities. (De la haye and Wilson, 1999) Marketing in latest approach development has shown a movement of quick development. A comprehensive appreciating and winning request for paid job is resolutely under the attention of triumph for every latest approach retailer. Several worries are stressed by empirical research for selling advance to communications: (Burberry, 2002; Moore and Birtwistle, 2004) The value of promulgating for creating a luxury brand photograph and way of life association has been recognized. Fashion shows and associated events augment substantially to the achievements of global broadcasting coverage. A proactive media organization strategy is very valued for the attainment of enough editorial reporting and the development of a plausible global profile and standing. Active selling making acquaintance in the development of photograph and way of life that is competent of engendering extensive involvement amid costumers and media. Brand Management A brand label is such a very valued intangible asset and ought be supervised carefully (Webster and Keller, 2004) à à à à à à à à Brand location is the part of the brand label personal identity and worth proposition that is to be energetically conveyed to the objective listeners and that clearly presents superiority over other, striving against brands. (Aaker,1991) Literature consistently cites to brand labels as an evaluate to add worth, either for the wares or the service the financial gathering has to offer. In rank to realize the brand label objectives and to enhance the competitiveness, administration nee to supervise the worth augmenting capabilities and initiate their own sole aspects that demarcate the offerings from those of competitors'(Brisdon and Evans, 2004; Simones and Dibb, 2001) Branding is the quintessence of selling pursuit in a company. In other remarks, brand label organization should be the utmost guidance for helping the financial gathering to realise the companys greatest goal. To endure and flourish, administration ought to bring ahead win-win bonds with the population they deal with in a collaborative quest for an actual configuration of mutual worth creation. Apparel branding has been encountered to function as a cue to consider consumers; association with certain groups. Theoretical Rationale Russel H. Colley (1961) had come up with DAGMAR approach to establish an explicit link between ad goals and ad results. He opines that an advertising goal is a precise communication task to be accomplished among a definite audience in a given period of time. This approach has changed the way that advertising outcome was measured. It introduced the concept of communication objectives like awareness, understanding, image and outlook. It also focused attention upon measurement, cheering people to create objectives so precise that they can be calculated. DAGMAR assumes that the awareness and liking of the brand can be achieved through media advertising alone. Media advertising is an prominent source of consumer information.(Stigler, 1961) Many new ways of advertising have altered the traditional view. In the ever-changing business world, the reassurance consistent brands can offer is a vital element in the added value (Feldwick, 1990) In light of the exceptional short shelf-life fashion goods have, marketers need to equip advertisements with the most up-to-date messages that the consumers seek. (Halve, 2005) The difficulty of targeting the right customers lies between the gap of understanding consumer behavior and media habits. (Dukes and Gal-Or, 2003) Based on the above theory, my research will analyze medias influence on Apparel Industry and consumer buying behavior. Data Sources The chief source would be to gather articles, papers and reports describing the role of media in Apparel Industry. This would fall under the Secondary data source (Fisher, 2007). Past cases would provide in depth coverage of events and are a trusted source. Also, journals and other articles on media and fashion apparel industry will be collected. All the above will enable coverage in depth of the topic and of the conclusions made earlier. This would be a proven source to base by research upon. Past case studies will help us in finding how media has helped the fashion apparel industry in advertising their products. As the research mainly analyses the role of media in fashion Apparel Industry, it will not be appropriate to collect the primary data in the form of a survey. Methodology Bryman and Bell (2007) stated that there are two strategies for research i.e. Qualitative and Quantitative methods. Quantitative data replicates finding about a sampling units in number while Qualitative data is information without the usage of numbers. Blumberg et al (2005) mentioned that researchers prefer either type of study. Taking into consideration the research, a blend of Qualitative and Quantitative research method is applied. Qualitative approach will help me become more knowledgeable with the fact the research is interested in (Trochim, 2000). This will give me a deeper understanding of the subject and help me in connecting one variable to another (Fisher, 2007). This will allow me to put down my findings about the role of media in fashion apparel industry. Quantitative data will help in construction of statistical models and explain the observations from it (Miles and Huberman, 1994). This data will help me in finding the influences on Fashion Involvement, Brand Conscious ness and Impulsiveness. In this research the method of data collection has been Desk Based Research. An extensive review of all the available secondary data would be essential.à Hypotheses The hypotheses to be tested in my research are:- Influences on Fashion Involvement Influences on Brand Consciousness Influences on Impulsiveness Research Design à Being essential to develop the most suitable research strategy, as to design the research process, including determining the research method, characteristics of the research instruments, and either quantitative or qualitative data to be used in analysis (Chisnall, 1997) Research design is a set of advanced decisions that make up the master plan specifying the methods and procedures for collecting and analyzing the needed information.(Burns and Bush, 2000) Considering this research, exploratory and descriptive research design method would best be appropriate. Wide range of literature will be searched and quoted to clarify the problems in practice. à Ethical Considerations According to Diener and Crandall (1978), there are four issues where ethical considerations could occur are: Harm to participants; Lack of informed consent; Invasion of privacy; Deception. The retail outlets confidentiality would be maintained subject to their consent. The main ethical issues occurring will be during Field Work interviews, surveys and observations. The ethical issues would be taken proper care during the conduct of interviews and questionnaire. The opinions and answers of the interviewer would be respected and his identity would be kept anonymous, to respect the privacy. No one would be forced to give the questionnaire; it would totally depend on the individual. During observations care would be taken, so that it does not be a hindrance to the store and the customers. The data collected from various sources would also not be forwarded to everyone. The findings of the data would only be used for research purposes. The data would be free from any bias by the researched. Aston Business School (ABS) ethical issues regarding data protection and plagiarism would also be respected. All the books, journals, authors and any other sources would be duly respected and referenced if used. Any other ethical issue to occur during the research would also be taken care.

Eagles band
Eagles band Eagles Band The Eagles band had many members over the years. They created many different albums over a period of time. The Eagles became more and more famous, as time went by. They traveled the world, and told storys through their song writings. The Eagles formed in 1971, Los Angeles, CA. The group started with Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, and Don Henley. Then around 1974 Don Felder, who was called in to do guitar work, was added to the group. In 1975 Bernie was replaced by Joe Walsh, and in 1977 Randy was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit. The group went on with Henley, Frey, Schmit, Walsh, and Felder. With the first four members the group is signed by Asylum Records. The Eagles travel to London where their debut album is released in 1972 titled Eagles. The group made it very clear they were Eagles not The Eagles. The first single Take It Easy led them to earned instant world wide recognition. The Eagles tour until the end of the year where another song toped the charts at number nine called Witchy Woman. In 1973 the group decides to do a follow up album in London. After long hours and hard work half way done with the album, they decide they want a different sound, more rock like you could say. So they packed up and moved everything to California where they worked with producer Bill Szymczky. There they created Desperado. This just lets everyone know just how talented and great storytellers they are. In 1974 their next album On The Border is released. This is when Felder was brought in to some work, and after the release he was made part of the band. Their single Best Of My Love was number one on the adult contemporary charts. This made it possiable for the Eagles to get their first gold single record as well multiple Grammy nominations. In 1975 the Eagles are ready once again to release their fourth album which is One of These Nights. The song titled One of These Nights, which is a rhythm and blues song, is released early makes the album gold certified after only being out for one week. At the end of this year Bernie decides to leave the group. He is then replaced by Joe Walsh. Now in 1976, Eagles are becoming more and more famous. Asylum decides its time to take all of their greatest hits from 1971 and 1975 and put them on one album. This sells over a million copies. This earns them the first RIAA platinum award in that category. Out of all the albums upon release this is the third in history to sell at the million unit mark. The same year the band wins their first Grammy for the single Lyin Eyes.As 1976 comes to an end the group releases their next album Hotel California, receiving the most outstanding commercial and critical success and reaching number one on the Billboard Charts and goes gold. At this point, Hotel California sells nine million copies, which surpasses the seven million units of Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975. The following year is spent touring the US, Canada, England, Scandinavia, Scotland, and Europe. In August at the end of this year Randy Meisner decides to leave the band. He is then replaced by Timothy B. Schmit. The Eagles just keep going and going. By 1978 which is a very successful year for the band. For they receive two Grammy awards one for best vocal arrangement for New Kid In Town and record of the year for Hotel California. Which just happens to be one of my favorite songs. At this time the group spends the year recording The Long Run. When they had breaks for this album, the Eagles release Please Come Home for Christmas and Funky New Year. The single became the first Christmas record to break into the top twenty on national music charts in over twenty years. Around 1980 the band was falling apart; however, they went ahead and kept their promises of a Japanese tour with a stop in Hawaii. then they release The Long Run and it reaches number one on the Billboard Charts. Before the official announcements are made about the band they release the 1981 album Eagles Live. This album reaches number six on the charts. Even with all the success, the Eagles decide to go their own separate ways. The Eagles returned after fourteen years for a MTV special. This 1994 live recording titled Hell Freezes Over became number one on the Billboard Charts. It went on to sell over fifteen million copies. During the next two years the band goes on tour, proving to be the most successful tours in music history. In 1998, the Eagles were placed into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. In 1999 as the new millennium was arriving , the Eagles decided to play a New Years Eve show. They open the new Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Now its the year 2000 the Eagles release a four CD box set with Selected Works from 1972-1999 which includes highlights from that New Years Eve show as well as hit songs throughout the bands career. Talk about a come back! In 2001 the band decides to fire Don Felder. Apparently he started fights with in the group. So now we are down to just four members. During interviews, the group reports that it is more peaceful with Felder gone. The band now consisting of Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, went on to tour Europe in the summer of 2001. The Eagles, have entertained fans all around the world for three decades and there not done yet, in 2007 they released a double album long Road out of Eden. Then they of course went on to do a world tour which was a guaranteed sold out event. As you can tell by now the Eagles have had a variety of members. They were known for there very talent story telling through their songs. They were very Famous and put together many albums for us to enjoy. I wonder what the Eagles will have in store for us next.

Internet Appliances Have Arrived :: Essays Papers
Internet Appliances Have Arrived This article was about a new kind of devices referred to as ââ¬Å"Internet Appliancesâ⬠. These devices look like small PCs but they only come with the online essentials: a screen, a keyboard, a modem, and a browser (no hard disk or floppy drive). These devices are directed at consumers who are interested in only using the Internet. Three devices were tested and described: Microsoft Network Companions from Compaq and Vestel, and the New Internet Computer (NIC). The two Microsoft Network units were very similar in design. They both have an embedded mouse and keyboards with short cut keys. A bad point of these machines is that they only function with Microsoft Network as the Internet service provider, which can result in a large amount of money as an overall investment. As far as price is concerned, the Vestel unit did not have a set price at the time of publication while the Compaq retails at $599.00. Up to $400.00 of that amount is available for Microsoft Network rebate. The rebate amount varies with the length of the contract. Overall both machines should be sufficient for first time Internet users. The third device, ââ¬Å"The New Internet Computerâ⬠(NIC) is the opposite of the Microsoft network machines. NIC is the most computer-like of the three appliances. Included with the device is a small vertical case, two stand-alone speakers, a tabletop mouse with a mouse pad, and a full size keyboard without shortcut buttons. The price for the NIC is a modest $200.00 plus $130.00 for the 15â⬠monitor. NetZero is one of the unitââ¬â¢s default Internet service provider options.

The Current State of Skodaââ¬â¢s Business in the Uk
Introduction Skoda, as a car manufacturer with a long history, has become one of the companies of Volkswagen who is the largest vehicle manufacturer in Europe since 1991 (Volkswagen, 2012). There is a fast development of Skoda in recent years. Its deliveries to customers in 2011 increased by 15. 3% compared to 2010 (Skoda, 2012). This report aims to: à · evaluate the current situation of Skoda in the UK using the SWOT analysis. à · analyze the business environment of Skoda in the UK by using the PESTLE analysis in detail. à · create the possible strategies for Skodaââ¬â¢s future development based on the analysis.Company Overview With twenty years development supported by Volkswagen, Skoda achieved a new high record of sales for 45282 vehicles in the UK, which occupied over 5% of the whole sales volume of the brand. In the market of the UK, Skoda has launched seven models, namely Citigo, Fabia, Roomster, Rapid, Octavia, Superb and Yeti (Skoda, 2012). SWOT analysis Both strong an d weak points of the business situation about Skoda in the UK can be seen in the SWOT analysis (see appendix I). The most obvious strength is the satisfaction provided to customers.Skoda has been doing good job on improving their products and services to meet customersââ¬â¢ demands. The company surveys their feelings and opinions directly to get the correct needs of customers. At the same time, some chances might be taken by Skoda to boost sales. Focusing on the vehicle itself as the marketing strategy, Skodaââ¬â¢s competitors leave the space to Skoda to focus on ââ¬Ëhappy Skoda customersââ¬â¢. It avoided the direct competition focusing on the product itself with other rivals and became the ââ¬Ëunique selling propositionââ¬â¢ of Skoda in the vehicle market (Times, 2008).In contrast, there are still some persistent weaknesses and threats of Skoda. One weak point, for example, is the negative effects from the ââ¬Ëimage of poor quality, design, assembly, and materi alsââ¬â¢ in the past. Although Skoda had tried to make many efforts to make the brand image better, it was proved to fail in the mid-market range by a brand named Health Check. Meanwhile, the threats for Skoda are ââ¬Ë50 different car makers selling 200 modelsââ¬â¢ in the UK. That means there is a highly competitive market in the UK, ââ¬Ëpotential buyers would overlook Skodaââ¬â¢.Informing the customers effectively and developing potential customers are the challenges for Skoda (Times, 2008). PESTEL analysis There are six parts of PESTLE analysis about business environment in the UK which focus on the external elements, namely, political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental factors. Some changes of political element, such as raising the VAT, are made by the UK government to increase the cost of buying cars. Plus, the UK customers are encouraged by British government to buy cars which are environmentally friendly because the road tax will be reduce d if people have small engines cars. That means the vehicle with smaller engine will attract more customers due to the financial reason. At the same time, the British car industry is affected by the economic recession. There is less demand which leads to fewer new vehicles being sold. People prefer to buy second hand cars instead of new cars because of the low price. The economic factors are more essential than the quality and design of cars because low consumption of new car means less profits the companies can gain (Gough, 2012).For the social element, the lifestyle changes of consumers may influence the design of a vehicle. Many bigger seats and larger space are provided in the cars for meeting the requirements of ââ¬Ëthe growing number of obese people in the UKââ¬â¢. In addition, the development of technology is a chance for companies to reduce production cost. Advertising their products widely on the Internet will attract more potential buyers. There might be some new lega l limitations of driving cars in the future. The speed limits may be considered more to ensure the citizenââ¬â¢s safety. Finally, the environmental issues, for instance the global warming, will be the pressure of vehicle manufacturers. They have to think about how to reduce the pollutant emission to be responsible for their society (Gough, 2012). Future strategy Two main suggested approaches aiming to solve the challenges of Skoda according to SWOT and PESTLE analyses are as follows: à · Invest a lot on promotion. Such as advertise their product on Internet and TV for informing UK customers the high quality and low price of the cars to change the bad brand image. Expand the model range for meeting different demands of British customers to increase the market share in heavy competition. Conclusion and Recommendations It can be found that the high satisfaction and high quality with low price are the strong points of Skoda. Although some weak points exist, they can be solved by adve rtising of telling the high quality and expanding the range of model to gain more British customers. In summary, Skoda should overcome the negative effects by using its advantages to boost sales and increase market share in the UK.

Islam in Seven Pages Essay
Islam is regarded as one of the worldââ¬â¢s top religions in terms of denomination. It has been practiced around the world for almost all known human history. Followers of the Islam religion are all over the globe, present in almost every country. They are people whom we encounter or may encounter in our daily lives. Islam followers had been victims to reckless stereotyping and false assumptions. So to clear these up, it is just fair that we should at least take a peek into the subject and try to understand the nature of Islam. The Early Years of the Prophet Muhammad A simple man, destined to be one of the greatest man that ever lived. Once, there was political instability and restlessness among the people Arabia. People became far from God and care less if they are. They are worshiping idols and false gods. The situation is much like what the whole world is experiencing in the present era. A simple man, a working-class type of man, was chosen by the one God himself, to carry out the messages of God to relieve the world from its impurities that are causing its own miseries. Muhammad entered the world in 570 A. D. The name Muhammad literally translates as ââ¬Å"praiseworthy. â⬠Unfortunately for the young Muhammad, his father died just four months after his birth and his mother departed when he was only six years of age. He was an orphan, and so his uncle took care of him. He worked as a shepherd boy for his neighbors and a camel driver, traversing the Arabia-Syria route for his uncle. Through hard-work and dedication, He did well in the business of handling trade caravans for merchants. His clients gave him the nickname ââ¬Å"Al-Aminâ⬠which means ââ¬Å"trustworthy. â⬠Through this career, his travels paved the way for him to be in contact with people of other nationalities and faith. When he reached the age of 25, he was employed by Khadija, a wealthy widow, who later on became his wife. The couple enjoyed a happy and loving marriage. A man having many wives was a common practice during that time, but Muhammad had only one wife, even when after she passed away only 24 years after their marriage. Tragedy has gotten its fair share with this man. He had his ups and downs, much like everyone else in this planet. But something great was destined for this man. He is soon to be experiencing an encounter of divine proportions. The Prophetââ¬â¢s Life in Mecca During Muhammadââ¬â¢s late 30ââ¬â¢s, he developed the habit of taking regular visits to a cave in Mount Hira, located in the outskirts of Mecca, to mediated and find solitude away from the problems of society. In 610 A. D, during the time Khadija was still alive, in one of his visits he rushed to their home telling his wife that an angel appeared before him. His wife was initially shocked but later on became his first convert. It was Angel Gabriel that appeared before him. The angel told him that God commands him to proclaim His word among his fellow human beings. He was reluctant to follow the command at first. He sees himself as just a normal person. He fearfully replied that he is not fit for the job. The angel commanded that Muhammad must speak for God to his people. Speak about His message that He will teach humanity what we do not know. And about Godââ¬â¢s incomparable glory and generosity to his creations. The angel continued to visit him. Khadija supported his husband through this experience. Muhammad managed to be convinced and confident that it is truly God that had chosen him to deliver the holy message. Since then, Muhammad was burdened the holy mission of delivering Godââ¬â¢s words to His people. Muhammad was assigned the holy mission to change the ways of his fellow countrymen. He conveyed the holy message that they should shun away from materialism, polytheism, immorality, and should only worship Allah as the only God. But during his conveyance of the holy message, he made it clear to the people that he is not a divine being of any kind, he is simply a prophet. He clearly stated that he is not able to perform miracles, only the one God is capable of such things. He was merely a messenger of Godââ¬â¢s commands. Almost three years had passed and there were only forty converts to the faith. This is because many people in Mecca opposed the message because the kind of society they are indulging themselves is jeopardized. The people in Mecca wonââ¬â¢t simply find it easy to give up their wealthy economic status and immoral indulgences. Muhammadââ¬â¢s early followers were heavily persecuted by Meccans who are yet to be converted and saved by the message. The persecution has led Muhammad to decide to move to Medina for safety. The Prophetââ¬â¢s Life in Medina Ironically, Muhammad was born into the Quraysh tribe. And this tribe was one of the first tribe to react violently to the holy message Muhammad conveyed. They had been very careful in keeping their migration to Medina unknown to the Quraysh tribe. They moved individually and in pairs to gradually complete the secret migration. During this time, the Quraysh tribe are considering their methods of action towards Muhammad. Theyââ¬â¢ve came up with imprisonment, exile, and the final decision was murder. The angry Meccans trailed Muhammad and his followers on their way to Medina. By the greace of God, they managed to escape the Meccans by hiding inside a cave. Upon their arrival at Medina, 73 converts pledged loyalty to Muhammad. During his first year in Medina, he authored the Constitution of Medina which is a formal agreement between him and the important tribes in the area. It is mainly concerned the rivalry of clans and to bring it into an end. As an effect, it bonded Muslim, Jewish and Pagans of Medina into a peaceful community. Muhammad later on led the Battle of Badr against the Quraysh. This was has been on-going for a long time and Muhammadââ¬â¢s victory is attributed to divine intervention. Muhammad was also a key factor in winning other battles over those in contention with the faith.
